It’s that time of year again, where musicians and artists everywhere come together to spread holiday joy to fans everywhere! Whether it’s releasing massive box sets of Christmas music (Sufjan Stevens, anyone?) or simply putting on a show, the holiday atmosphere is notorious for bringing out the spectacle. KEXP has put together a smattering of holiday themed shows around town for you to get in the spirit:

  • On Friday, 12/9, the “How the Grouch Stole Christmas” Tour returns to Seattle, featuring The Grouch, Zion I, and Eligh with special guest Evidence at The Crocodile (info).

  • On Tuesday, 12/13, singer/songwriter Rosie Thomas returns to Seattle’s Triple Door for a Christmas show with Ivan & Alyosha plus a number of special guests, a choir, and her own stand-up comedy persona Sheila Saputo (info).

Rosie, who is no stranger to holiday music (see 2008′s A Very Rosie Christmas), has recorded a new song, “Remember When It Snowed”, which you can listen to right now!

On Thursday, 12/15, Indie Rock Reviews presents their holiday show, Jingle Bell Indie Rocks, at The Crocodile, featuring Seattle indie bands -- Kris Orlowski Band, Exohxo, Eternal Fair, The First Times, and Elk and Boar -- playing holiday classics! (info)

  • Our friends at Three Imaginary Girls are holding their annual holiday party at the Columbia City Theater on Friday, 12/16. Go for the great music, featuring Clem Snide’s Eef Barzelay, along with Mal de Mer and Heligoats, and to sit on The Long Winters’ John Roderick‘s lap and tell him what you really want for Christmas! (info).

  • The Cops Ruin Christmas on Friday, 12/16 and are joined at the Tractor Tavern by Hopscotch Boys, The Golden Blondes, and Lovesick Empire (info).
  • Who is more festive than J Mascis? And what better gift could you receive than Dinosaur Jr. performing their classic ’88 album, Bug, in its entirety? Henry Rollins joins the band on Saturday 12/17 at Showbox at the Market for some crazy good times and interviews them onstage! Portland’s Pierced Arrows open (info).

  • Rather get down to the roots? The Moondoggies and The Maldives celebrate their 6th Annual Holiday Show at the Neptune Theatre on Saturday, 12/17 (info).

If you know of other holiday shows in the area, leave a comment here.
